Apple sauce

The fruits of our labor.

After the kids picked a huge basket of apples, I turned them into applesauce this past weekend. It took a while to peel all those apples but, yum! the result is mighty tasty.

I used this recipe (double batch).

  1. Why do you peal the apples? Our applesauce is made from our non sprayed apples by cutting up & removing the bad bits, seeds & sharp core. Cut apples into Large pot, cook with a bit of water add of cinnamon and sweetener if needed, at the end. If having company you can put through food mill to remove skins. Family loves it chunky skins & all.

    1. Yeah, I thought of that, but this was my first time making applesauce (at least, since I was a child) and thought I’d take the more traditional approach first. Next time I’ll try “pink applesauce”!
