Weekend in Paris

Good food, good weather, favorite places.

I wrote yesterday about my lovely hike through Bois de Vincennes, in central Paris. We had arrived in Paris on Friday afternoon after a quick ride through the Channel Tunnel; only two and a half hours from London to Paris!

The River Seine, near Notre Dame, Paris.

The chilly but sunny weekend gave us several opportunities to explore, including visits to Notre Dame, a walk-around Tour Eiffel, and several nice meals. The full moon, overnight Friday into Saturday, added extra ambience.

The lines to enter Notre Dame were long, with hundreds of people wanting to see the recently restored cathedral. As it happens, just as we reached the entrance, the bells tolled eleven and, inside, the mass had just begun. The experience of walking inside Notre Dame, at the height of Sunday mass, was incredibly moving. My photo gallery includes a couple of brief videos, hopefully conveying the smallest sense of that experience, including the sounds of the organ and the congregation.
