Well, that’s it for the Japan trip. Just a few more tidbits… read on!
We sailed on the National Geographic Resolution, one of Lindblad Expedition’s newest Arctic-class vessels, under Captain Heidi Norling. On this voyage, the ship carried 103 crew and 113 guests. (Its capacity is 126 guests.) My photo gallery includes a few photos of this beautiful ship.

The food was fantastic, at every meal. Breakfast was an extensive buffet; at lunch and dinner there were always at least three entrees and two or three delectable desserts, different every day. One dinner, by invitation each evening, highlighted the creativity of the chef along the theme of ‘zero food waste’ [video]. The gallery includes some food photos!

Finally, I noticed that every city seemed to have a unique style of manhole cover (sewer cover). How interesting! The gallery includes some examples.

Our total cruise spanned 1,401 nautical miles. Because we had short transits and smooth seas, the ship used ‘only’ 9 metric tons of fuel per day, on average.
The map of our sea route is available on Google Maps; a clip is shown below.

This post is last in a series about our Japan trip; the series starts here.
